Lennon Portfolios by Bob Gruen

The Music Photo Gallery is proud to present the Lennon Portfolios by Bob Gruen, an exclusive collection of meticulously crafted, museum-quality prints capturing the legendary John Lennon and Yoko Ono. These rare and valuable portfolios are a testament to Gruen’s iconic role in documenting the lives of these cultural icons and are now available for the first time in our gallery.

Lennon Portfolios are a numbered edition series of 16x20 prints, showcasing some of the most intimate and powerful moments of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, all preserved in their original, untouched condition since their creation in 1990. These portfolios were originally produced to complement John Lennon’s lithographs for Yoko Ono’s Bag One Art company, with Gruen’s photographs serving as the perfect visual counterpoint to Lennon’s own artistic endeavors.

The collection comprises three distinct portfolios:

• Listen To These Pictures: Featuring 18 black and white prints, this portfolio captures the profound connection between John and Yoko, offering a deep, emotional insight into their world

• Love Is Real: A set of 6 black and white prints that encapsulate the enduring love and partnership of this iconic couple, frozen in time by Gruen’s expert lens

• Working Class Hero: This portfolio includes 6 vibrant color Cibachrome prints, highlighting John Lennon’s enduring influence and rebellious spirit during the later years of his career

Each of these sets is housed in a luxurious canvas-covered clamshell box, underscoring the significance and exclusivity of the collection. As one of the most sought-after photographers of the era, Bob Gruen’s work is unparalleled in its authenticity and artistic integrity, making these portfolios not just a collection of photographs but a piece of history.

These works have been preserved in pristine condition, with very few prints ever reaching the public market. The Lennon Portfolios represent a rare opportunity for collectors and institutions to acquire a piece of music history, with each print numbered and ready to become part of a prestigious collection.

We invite you to explore these extraordinary portfolios, a true celebration of John Lennon’s legacy through the lens of one of the most celebrated photographers of our time.
