The Music Photo Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the upcoming edition of Paris Photo, the leading international art fair dedicated to the photography medium, which returns to the Grand Palais Éphémère in the heart of Paris from November 10 to 13th, 2022.
At the Main Section TMPG presents a Solo Show by Legendary photographer Bob Gruen who will feature, for the first time, photos of Andy Warhol Superstars Jackie Curtis, Holly Woodlawn, Candy Darling and others in rehearsal for Jackie’s play “Vain Victory” and at other events in early 1970’s New York. Also featured are rare photos of Debbie Harry.
The exhibition proposal entitled “Vain Victory - Women in Revolt” delivers a selection of very rare, some never seen before photographs, including documentation related to the underground hit “Walk on the Wild Side” written by Lou Reed.
Revisiting this work is about understanding the radical transformatIon that marked modern culture with the growth of the feminist and transgender movements in the United States in the early 1970s.
